題目：Introduction to 5G and MediaTek Contributions

摘要：The fifth generation (5G) of communications was studied since Apr. 2016 in 3GPP, with a terminology of New Radio (NR). The ambition is to provide enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), ultra-reliable and low latency (URLLC), and massive machine type communications (mMTC). The first version of NR specification, capable of eMBB and preliminary URLLC, is finalized in Dec 2018. Pre-commercial trials have been taking place since 2018, and first wave of 5G commercial is expected in H2 of 2019, and rapid market growth is expected after 2020.

In this speech, we will first introduce 5G as well as the major contributions from MediaTek. In particular, the challenges of very high data rate, reliability, and power consumption as well as MediaTek contributed solutions will be introduced. Toward higher frequency band for wider available bandwidth, we will also introduce the challenges of mmWave technologies.
