實驗室液晶矽光子實驗室

實驗室介紹:

       本團隊研究領域主要包含矽光子學、液晶光學以及矽光子元件異質整合等主題。在異質整合研究,初期我們將特別著重於在液晶與矽光子被動元件之間的結合。

矽光子學是一種革命性的技術,主要以矽作為光傳遞介質。矽光子除了具有光通訊的寬頻和長距離傳輸的優勢外,與標準CMOS製造技術的兼容性也使得晶片具備低成本和高積體化的潛力。理想的矽光子平台應建立在矽波導的基礎上,但不受限於只用矽作為光子材料,特別是作為主動功能材料。由於矽的本質材料限制,其弱電光效應限制了在主動元件中的應用,特別是一些需要大的光調控能力的調變器。

近年來,許多研究將被動矽光子元件與液晶結合,利用液晶的高雙折射性、低損耗以及多樣化驅動方式的優點來實現具有多功能的主動矽光子元件。因此,我們也將會研究如何將各種類型的有機液晶整合到矽波導結構中,來開發出各種不同功能的液晶矽光子元件。同時,我們也將尋找其它合適的電光材料,如PZT與高應力材料,整合於矽光子元件,開發主動式矽光子元件。
