Optical fiber communication laboratory is doing researches relating to the long-distance optical fiber communication system, fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) system, and the optical fiber network. One major topic of this laboratory is novel modulation format to improve the spectral efficiency of the long-distance optical fiber communication system. As the demand for the broadband communication is steadily increasing, the technology to support this demand is quite important. Both the theoretical and the experimental studies are conducted in this laboratory. Recirculating loop transmission experiments are conducted to explore the performance of the long-distance optical fiber communication system.
Another major topic of this laboratory is a study of passive optical network (PON). The PON technology is widely deployed for the commercial FTTH system in the world, and researches to consider the future of the PON system are important to improve the commercial FTTH system. Experimental studies to enhance the reach of the PON system are conducted in this laboratory.
光纖通訊實驗室以長距離光纖通訊系統、光纖到家系統及光纖網路為主要研究領域。其中一個研究主題是研發並且使用新的光調變技術來改進長距離光纖通訊系統的頻譜效率。由於網路通訊頻寬的需求量仍然不斷的增加,研究新的技術是來提供足夠的需求量是勢在必行。本實驗室不論是在模擬系統以及實際應用的研究上皆有持續性的發
展。並且我們使用再循環迴路傳輸系統來探討光訊號在長距離光纖通訊系統中的表現。
另一項實驗室的研究以被動光網路為主。在全世界,被動光網路的技術被廣泛應用在光纖到家系統的通訊上。研發未來的被動光網路系統來改進光纖到家的通訊系統是非常重要的。本實驗室以改進被動光網路系統的傳輸距離為研究目標,不斷的在持續進行實驗中。
